About Me

Hello and Welcome!! 🙂

I’m Kellin and I am 18 years old and from New York City. I was born in Guatemala in 2001 but adopted at 4 months by my two wonderful mothers. I am a woman of color who grew up with two white lesbians and my little sister who they adopted four years later from Guatemala. My family has always been unusual al but I have loved it. We took our vacations in Provincetown, Massachusetts for Family Week to be with other LGBTQ families with some adopted kids. Growing up, my friends meant the world to me and to this day they still do. I made friends during those vacations but also the friends I made later in life at work and school. Throughout all my life I have always considered my friends family and I think I will always be that way.

I have lived in New York ever since I came home, and finally moved out and across the country when I decided to come to Chapman for college. I chose Chapman because as weird as it sounds, New York City was getting too small. I was running into people too often like you would in a small town and I was ready to get out. I was unsure of moving to the warm weather because I absolutely love the cold and was upset about having to leave my winter ski instructor job but I knew it was time. I knew if NYC felt too small… I needed to get out asap. 

While this blog is technically for my english class about travel, I hope I gain some more readers besides the ones that are looking at this solely for the class. I hope my audience can grow because I feel like I have some interesting stories. In this blog I will definitely be adding many photos in my pieces because I absolutely love photography. I find it is a beautiful way to capture memories but also tell a story. All photos in my blog will most likely be taken by me on my cannon film camera in 35mm film!! Anytime I travel I always bring my camera and aim to bring back at least 3-5 rolls of film to develop. I cannot wait to share more of my photos and thoughts with this audience.
